Also known as Agnus Castus Vitex, chaste berries have been used for over 2000 years to treat female hormonal conditions. 

Why should I give my animals chaste tree berries?

Hormonal fluctuations can cause mood swings and aggressive behaviour in animals, and the effect of chaste tree berries on the endocrine system works to regulate hormones linked to reproduction and metabolism. These dopaminergic effects can also aid with anxious or aggressive animals.

Chaste tree berries are widely used as a natural supplement for Cushing’s Disease in horses, as they help regulate dopamine levels. The regulation of dopamine levels works to support pituitary function and reduce Cushing’s symptoms, like abnormal coat growth and muscle wastage.

Occasionally, chaste tree berries are used in dairy animals to support lactation, as they have prolactin-modulating properties. Similarly, it’s suggested that they may aid in insulin regulation, making them beneficial for horses with Equine Metabolic Syndrome (EMS) or insulin resistance.
